During the 38th Annual Legislative Conference

The Congressional Black Caucus
WASHINGTON, D.C., October 2, 2008 – GoodWorks International, LLC played an active role during the recently concluded 38th Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, DC. The theme of this year’s gathering was “Embracing the Promise: Realizing the Vision.”
On Saturday, September 27th, Wallace Ford, President and Chief Operating Office of GoodWorks International, participated in a panel convened by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), “Bridging the Gap: Africa, America and the Caribbean.” Rep. Lee currently serves as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s African Globalism Committee. In addition to Rep. Lee and Mr. Ford, other panelists included: Rep. John Conyers (D-MI); Rep. Donna Christian-Christensen (D-VI); Rep. Donald M. Payne (D-NJ); Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX); His Excellency Dr. Edward F. Brown, Premier of Bermuda; Her Excellency Hawa Olga Ndilowe, Republic of Malawi; Rep. George Pau-Langevin (Paris, France); Dr. Julianne Malveaux, President of Bennett College; and Mr. Mark Walton, Executive Vice President of the Africa Channel. The panel was moderated by Ms. Emira Woods, Co-Director of Foreign Policy, Institute for Policy Studies.
Mr. Ford stated, “I found the presentations and question and answer session to be useful and informative. At GoodWorks International, we are particularly looking forward to working with each of the panelists in the future to support Rep. Lee in her new capacity as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s African Globalism Committee.”
